Classical dressage is needed to keep your horse strong and supple in riding. This is important for every type of horse and every type of training. In classical dressage exercises we work on more balance and self carriage. We work with different exercises on the ground and on the horse. The exercises are fitted to the specific horse and it's needs. If a horse, for example, falls on it's inside shoulder we can work with shoulder in on that hand and counter shoulder in on the other side. Travers is a good exercise for horses who go in cross canter because they have their hindhand bended to the outside.
Good classical dressage is not about pulling on the reins to make the horse bend it's neck. With the right exercises you will get a beautiful shape without having to work backwards with the reins. When you use little aids and you learn to let the horse perform the exercise, you ill get a strong horse who will keep it's nice shape also on the pasture.
In classical dressage we use centered riding and some parts of connected riding to make the exercises go more soft and fluent.
With classical dressage you make your horse strong and supple
Training on the ground with a short or long rein are also important in classical dressage
